As a full licence holder in Australia, you're allocated a maximum of 12-13 demerit points over a certain period of time, depending on the state. Exceeding this limit may result in a suspension of your licence.
You start with a clean slate of zero demerit points, and committing traffic offences such as speeding, using your phone while driving, or running a red light leads to the accumulation of these points.
Life's never-ending list of admin can take so much time. Whether it's renewing this or updating that, there’s always something that you need to check in on. But when it comes to knowing your current demerit points, or how many you have remaining, it’s definitely something you don’t want creeping up on you.
See how you can check your demerits points by state below.
