2020-2021 Toyota Prius recalled with pre-collision system fault

Toyota Australia has issued a recall for 41 examples of its Prius hatch built between July 2020 and May 2021 due to a fault being identified with the vehicles’ pre-collision system (PCS) software.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, “software programming of the PCS may cause a delayed application of the pre-crash brake assist function, resulting in a lower overall vehicle speed reduction than intended.”

Toyota will contact affected owners and ask them to organise a time to bring their vehicle into a preferred Toyota dealership, where the fault will be fixed free of charge.

The wait time to fix the said problem will take approximately 45 minutes and requires no new parts.

Affected vehicles' VINs range from 03094218 to 03095328, and the particular Prius version in question is the ZVW50.
