Snapshot
- Total of 95 vehicles recalled
- Brake failure may occur over time
- Volkswagen is asking owners to contact local dealers
A recall notice has been issued for the 2021 Volkswagen Passat after a potential problem with its braking system was discovered.
Covering just 95 units sold so far this year, a threaded nut which connects the brake servo and pedal may not meet manufacturing standards – potentially leading the two parts separating.
If this failure occurs it could result in a loss of braking power, creating a higher risk of an incident.
Owners of 2021 model year Passats are encouraged to contact their nearest Volkswagen dealer or its recall department on 1800 504 076/recalls@myvw.com.au
To the end of August 2021, a total of 512 Passats have been sold, with the recall covering just under 20 per cent of all vehicles purchased this year.
