- BMW X7 used to transport Cruise stolen from outside hotel in the UK
- Car was recovered but $1000s in belongings missing
- BMW M5, Fiat 500 and Nissan GTR used during filming
Tom Cruise’s BMW X7 SUV was stolen from outside the Grand Hotel building that Cruise was staying in while filming the seventh Mission: Impossible movie in Birmingham.
According to The Guardian, the vehicle was then recovered shortly afterwards in Smethwick – three miles away – but it’s reported that Cruise’s luggage and belongs were missing and are worth thousands of dollars.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of a BMW X7 stolen from Church Street, Birmingham, in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 24). The car was recovered a short time later in Smethwick.”
It is believed the X7 was only being used to transport Cruise around, and has no actual role in the movie.
BMW has had a partnership with the Mission: Impossible franchise since an i8 was used in 2011's Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, and it seems that partnership is set to continue after Cruise was seen in a doorless BMW M5 being used as a stunt car during filming in Rome with co-star Hayley Atwell.
Also seen in the footage is an original Fiat 500, and a matte black Nissan GTR camera car.
The seventh instalment of the Mission: Impossible series is set to hit cinemas in Australia on May 26 next year.
