AUSTRALIA’S auto industry heavy-hitters only assemble in the same room a couple of times each year, and the most prestigious occasion that brings them together is the Australian Motoring Awards.
Melbourne’s Forum Theatre hosted the 2018 AMAs last week, and welcomed more than 200 of the local industry’s key staff members to a gala dinner.
Four accolades were handed out, including the WhichCar Style Award, 4x4 of the Year and MOTOR’s Performance Car of the Year, before Wheels editor Alex Inwood took to the stage to present the 55th Wheels Car of the Year.
The night was compered by Shane Jacobson and included a revealing Q&A session between Wheels luminary Peter Robinson and automotive designer Paul Beranger, former head of Toyota Style Australia.
Wheels’ six COTY finalists were assembled on the floor of the Forum for guests to admire before the XC60 was named Car of the Year and Volvo was presented with its very first COTY trophy.
Check out the video here for your look inside the industry’s night of nights, and be sure to grab a copy of the January issue of Wheels, available now, for all of our COTY coverage.
