Subaru will give a world debut reveal to the eagerly awaited new Liberty next month at the New York Auto Show.
That's according to strong rumours now doing the rounds in Tokyo....
Subaru, you may recall, rolled out the Legacy Concept at the Detroit Show in January which gave us a first glimpse at Subaru's thinking for the next Liberty.
That silver muscled up sedan with Subaru's 3.6-litre flat-six under the bonnet and trademark all-wheel-drive, which has since re-appeared at Geneva, looked good under the lights but was only stage one of the story, however.
Come April 8-9, when the Big Apple opens its show doors to the media, Subaru will do away with pretense and roll out the real thing. Or so goes the word....
We don't yet whether we will get the full deal - sedan, touring wagon and Outback versions of the new Scooby series - at NY.
But these cars are now definitely on the way and in Japan, Subaru's set to launch the domestic, fifth generation Legacy this summer.
Why the unveiling in New York? Because America, like Australia, is a crucial market for Subaru. The Legacy is built there at Subaru's SIA plant (now co-run with Toyota) in Indiana, so it'll be the perfect launch pad in front of the world's press.
