New Aussie sporting hero Adam Scott has ripped up the greens and fairways In the US Masters golf tournament at Augusta National, and Honda’s new lawn mowing robot, the Miimo, is ready to do the same.
Honda has been demonstrating the autonomous robotic unit at PGA golf tour events in the USA. In fact, at the recent 2013 Honda Classic held at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Miimo was hard at work all weekend, cutting grass for tournament spectators between the 10th and 18th fairways.
According to Honda, the lithium-ion battery-powered unit navigates through a combination of controls, timers and sensory feedback, working within a boundary wire, installed under the ground or in the grass around the perimeter of the area to be mowed.
At this stage the unit is offered for sale in Europe only.
