Revealed: Toyota's 300kW Yaris Hybrid-R

Meet the world’s most powerful Toyota city car – the 313kW Hybrid-R concept.

Revealed in full before its debut at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, it’s powered by a combination of a traditional 223kW 1.6-litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol and two 45kW motors that power the rear axle.

Built to showcase Toyota’s latest hybrid technology, don’t simply dismiss it as a publicity exercise.

The body may be pure show car, but underneath it’s specially-developed engine and drivetrain hints at Toyota’s performance future.
