The Koenigsegg Regera is a smoke machine

The Koenigsegg Regera sure does one mean burnout.

Then again, it would, because its specification is basically tailor-made for turning rubber into smoke for as long as possible. Firstly, there’s the 1120kW/2000Nm+ hybrid drivetrain, which can use electric torque to turn the tyres from standstill until the twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 takes over.

Next, there's its radical direct drive transmission, so there’s no power interruption all the way up to its 406km/h top speed. Finally, the crucial piece of the puzzle is rear-wheel drive and an “ESP OFF” button.

Koenigsegg gave a hint of the Regera’s powerskid potential in a video released on its Facebook page earlier this week, filmed on the runway adjoining its Angelholm factory. Bring on Summernats.
