This South Korean automaker has had success with some iconic models in Australia. The Hyundai i30, a small hatchback, has consistently secured top ranks for several years, while the Hyundai Kona remains immensely popular among Australian drivers.
Recently, Hyundai introduced its sub-brand IONIQ to Australia, showcasing its commitment to pure electric vehicles with the launch of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. Alongside this, Hyundai continues to equally prioritize its sports vehicles, notably its high-performance N models. The i30N, in particular, has garnered praise for helping to revitalise Australia’s automotive performance car segment.

About Hyundai
Hyundai came to Australia in 1986 with just the first-generation Excel. They didn’t become the official Australian branch until 2003.
The company started small, but the Excel was once Australia’s top-selling car. Hyundai later made a high-performance car in 2017, the i30 N, and one of the first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles in 2013, the ix35 Fuel Cell.
Hyundai now offers many different types of vehicles, including passenger, SUV, commercial, electric, and sports cars. They often rival premium car brands in quality and features.
Hyundai is also unique because they adjust the suspension of most of their cars for Australia’s roads. The i30 small hatchback is their most popular model.
