An ultra-rare 1998 Nissan R33 Skyline GT-R Nismo 400R has come up for sale in the UK for £1.6 million – more than AU$3.02 million.
The 400R was a limited-edition model produced by Nissan’s performance arm Nismo, based on the R33 Skyline GT-R V-Spec.
The original 2.6-litre twin-turbo inline-six was increased to 2.8-litres, with outputs claimed at 298kW (or 400hp, hence the name) and 470Nm, sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual with revised gear ratios, allowing for a 0-100km/h time in under four seconds.
While production estimates vary from 44 to 50, the seller claims this particular vehicle is build #40 of just 40 ever made – though only 19 (plus a prototype) have been verified to still exist by website GTR-Registry.

Fans of the racing simulator Gran Turismo may recognise the 400R, with the model appearing in all games up to GT Sport.
With an asking price of £1.6 million, the Skyline is more expensive than supercars such as the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition and Porsche Carrera GT – and if it fetches its asking price, would make it one of very few Japanese cars to sell for more than US$2 million.
The 1998 Nissan R33 Skyline GT-R Nismo 400R is on sale through HJA Group, and can be viewed by clicking here.
