Kia Australia is recalling examples of its Soul hatchback after a defect was found with its front airbags.
The issue affects 379 cars made between 2013 and 2015 and applies to all model variants.
According to the Department for Infrastructure, which issued the notice, a manufacturing issue means the airbag control unit (ACU) may not deploy the front airbags in the event of a crash – which could cause serious injury or death to occupants.
A list of VINs for the vehicles involved can be found here.
Owners are advised to contact their local Kia dealership to schedule an appointment to have the ACU software updated, free of charge.
Alternatively, Kia can be contacted on 131 542 or customer_service@kia.com.au
