2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe pricing revealed

WE’VE been waiting for months for the sleeker, sexier, two-door version of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S to arrive, and now we finally have a date. And a price.

AMG’s C63 Coupe will hit Aussie roads in June priced from $162,400 as it takes the fight to the BMW M4 and the Audi RS5, both of which are slightly cheaper. The M4 costs $161,900, while the aging Audi is $157,510.

We drove the coupe version of the 375kW/700Nm C63 in Spain last year, where it quickly proved it’s much more than a Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan sans two doors. It’s lower, wider and meaner, with different tracks front and rear and staggered tyres that combine to boost on-the-limit handling.

The coupe is also the quickest car ever to wear the C63 badge, courtesy of a 0-100km/h claim of 3.9 seconds.

If ball-tearing hot-rods dressed in sharp suits aren’t your thing, but you’re still chasing a mid-sized German two-door, Benz has also revealed pricing for its regular C-Class Coupe range.

It kicks off with the C200 Coupe, priced from $65,900 and powered by a 135kW/300Nm turbo four-cylinder engine. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloys, AMG body styling, sports suspension and LED headlights.

Stepping up to the $74,900 C250d adds a 150kW/500Nm diesel engine, 19-inch wheels and full leather, while the C300 Coupe, which is powered by a 180kW/370Nm petrol engine will set you back $83,400.

Also joining the C-Class Coupe range in December will be the AMG C43 Coupe and C43 Cabriolet, which cop AMG-tuned drivetrains and suspension, yet sit below the range-topping C63.
