Audi’s RS4 Avant has been refreshed with a new face and more goodies.
It’s still a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet, putting 331kW and 600Nm to all four wheels for a 0-100km/h sprint to be done in just 4.1 seconds. Or so Audi claims… MOTOR managed a 3.86sec run in 2018, with a 12.03sec quarter-mile.
But its design is where the most obvious changes are, with “the front section of the new RS4 Avant [having] been completely redesigned.”
It’s now more aggressive, with an RS6-like design and the large ‘eggcrate’ grille flanked by large lateral air inlets which are now enclosed in body colour.
Audi has also made the wheel arches 30 millimetres wider at the front and back compared to the A4 Avant.
Inside, a new 10.1-inch MMI touch display takes over from the previous RS4’s rotary control, providing ‘acoustic feedback’.
Also new are RS1 and RS2 modes, which drivers can customise to suit their different drive mode preferences for easy access.
"Combining consistent sportiness with unlimited everyday usability may seem like an unconventional idea to some, but to us, the high-performance Avant is one of the best concepts of our 25-year history," says Oliver Hoffmann, managing director of Audi Sport.
"As our long-standing bestseller, the Audi RS4 Avant contributes significantly to the success of Audi Sport GmbH."
The new Audi RS 4 Avant is expected to arrive in Australia in mid-2020. Pricing and specification will be announced closer to launch.
