Ford Australia has issued a recall for around 1400 vehicles due to a manufacturing defect.
Snapshot
- 2022 Ford Ranger and Everest recalled
- Due to manufacturing defect for the driver's seatbelt
- Around 1400 vehicles affected
The cause of the recall – affecting 1380 new-generation Ford Ranger and Everest vehicles built in 2022 – relates to the driver's seatbelt, which could be assembled incorrectly.
According to the notice published by the Department of Infrastructure, this could cause the seatbelt's effectiveness to be reduced in an accident.
"If the seatbelt is not assembled correctly, it will not adequately restrain the occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury or death."
Ford Australia said affected owners should contact the company to ensure their details are up-to-date, with parts currently unavailable.
It said affected owners would be contacted when parts become available to book an appointment with their nearest dealership to inspect and rectify the fault at no cost.
A VIN list for the affected vehicles can be found here (CSV spreadsheet file).
The company can be contacted directly by calling 13 36 73, or by visiting a dealership, found here.
