The 2022 Mazda MX-5 will be revealed next month, as the current version finishes its run.
Mazda has announced orders of the current MX-5 have ended in anticipation of the new model, which is expected to debut the vehicle's mid-life facelift.
“With the exception of some specifications, sales of the current model have been discontinued,” a notice on the Mazda Japan website reads.
“The announcement of the new model is scheduled for this winter.”
While a report in October referred to the next-generation 2024 Mazda NE MX-5 potentially receiving a mild-hybrid powertrain, the forthcoming unveiling is likely to offer a styling update of the current model, known as the ND3.
A spokesperson for Mazda Australia has told MOTOR there will be more details to share on the updated MX-5 on December 16.
