- New Outlander will be second generation to feature PHEV option
- Japanese sales to begin in December
- First quarter 2022 launch expected for Australia
Mitsubishi has provided a closer look at its latest Outlander plug-in hybrid before the model's official launch next month.
Having already been confirmed to join the line-up, the PHEV variant features mildly tweaked front styling to differentiate it from its purely combustion engine siblings – while a handful of relevant badges make sure it stands out.
Mitsubishi has previously said the second-generation PHEV will feature a more powerful motor and a larger battery – helping to deliver an increase on the existing model's 60kW front and 70kW rear motors, combining for a total driving range of 56km in electric-only mode.
Riding on 20-inch wheels as standard, a choice of 10 colours will be offered to PHEV buyers – an expansion on the seven finishes available for the exclusively ICE-powered variants.
With the rest of the range increasing in price by anywhere between $1500-4000 over the outgoing model, expect the incoming hybrid to land at around $50,000-60,000 before on-road costs – depending on trim level.
The new Outlander PHEV is set to be launched globally by Mitsubishi at 2.30pm AEDT on October 28.
