- 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL: Full Australian details
- Two-door AMG roadster available with sole V8 option
- Priced from $374,900 plus on-roads
Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed the latest SL will be offered in flagship 63 form only, with the less-powerful AMG 43 and 55 variants not planned for our market at this stage.
It is priced from $374,900 before on-road costs – $1721 more than the SL 63 last offered in Australia five years ago.
Developed from the ground up by Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance division, the SL 63 is powered by a hand-assembled 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, matched to a nine-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
It produces 430kW and 800Nm, with a claimed 3.6-second 0-100km/h sprint time and 315km/h top speed.
Like the S-Class limousine, the SL features rear-axle steering and a similar interior with a portrait-orientated MBUX infotainment system – but it is underpinned by a unique lightweight composite chassis expected to be shared with the second-generation AMG GT.
According to the brand, the latest SL has 50 per cent higher transverse rigidity than the previous AMG GT Roadster, while longitudinal rigidity is 40 per cent higher.
The SL sports 21-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels, while buyers can choose from 12 paint options: opalite white (bright or matte), patagonia red, alpine grey, spectral blue, obsidian black, hyper blue, high-tech silver, spectral blue, selenite grey, monza grey matte, or sun yellow.
