UPDATE, 4:30pm: Kia has confirmed the manual-only 1.0-litre turbo GT will be discontinued globally for the updated Picanto, including for Australia.
Other variants will continue to offer a naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre, matched to a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual.
It is headlined by an EV9-inspired ‘digital tiger nose’ front fascia with a slimmer bar, vertical headlights, new LED daytime running lamps and a revised lower bumper design.
Kia has confirmed redesigned alloy wheel designs, while the rear features revised tail-lights connected by a full-width strip, an updated lower bumper, and new badging.
New exterior colours available in Korea include 'adventurers green' and 'gin signal red', while the cabin can be selected with brown or dark green upholstery for some grades.
The Picanto’s autonomous emergency braking system has been updated with pedestrian, cyclist and intersection detection, while it adds navigation-based adaptive cruise control.
In addition, the updated Picanto gains USB-C charge ports with two new rear-seat connections, an updated 8-inch infotainment system, and LCD gauges for the instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-information display.
Other technology new to the Picanto includes auto-folding side mirrors, remote engine start, and automatic high beam.
The 2024 Kia Picanto is due in Australia in the final quarter of this year, with local details to be announced closer to its arrival.
For context, the current Picanto is available from $16,290 before on-road costs – but the facelifted model is likely to be priced closer to $20,000.
