Unveiled in New York way back in the 'before times' of 2019, the fourth-generation Toyota Kluger (also known as Highlander) will be due for a midlife makeover in the next year-or-so.
How the facelifted Kluger will look is unclear at this stage, and indeed there's already a version sold in North America and China (where it's the Toyota Crown Kluger) that wears a distinctly different grille to the model we have here in Australia – check it out at the bottom of this story.
If Australia's updated Kluger doesn't simply take on that overseas styling, it could follow the new Crown range and the new Prius (neither of which are offered in Australia) into Toyota's new design language.
It remains to be seen if those new models are actually a hint at all future Toyota styling, although we know from a recent concept reveal that the new-gen C-HR compact SUV will be among them.
To see how the existing Kluger might look with Toyota's new styling language, we've produced a pair of renders that adapt the Crown and Prius design cues to the front and rear ends.
If our speculative images prove accurate, it could go a long way towards properly tying the Kluger's currently anonymous looks into the established Toyota look.
What do you think of the look shown here – a sporty improvement of the current model, or wide of the mark?
Grand... Highlander?
Of course, there's also the newly revealed Grand Highlander (pictured at the bottom of this story), which will be sold in the US and has not yet been confirmed for Australia.
It's important to note that the Grand Highlander is much larger than the regular model – and bigger even than a 300 Series LandCruiser – but its styling cues could nonetheless hint at a Kluger facelift.
