The BMWs M3’s 4.0-litre V8 took the honours ahead of Porsche’s legendary flat-six and the Nissan GT-R’s 3.7 twin-turbo in the 3.5 to 4.0-litre category, while Audi’s TT RS is home to the 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder that’s won the 2.0 to 2.5-litre class.
Volkswagen’s twin-charged 1.4-litre was voted best in the 1.0 to 1.4-litre category, while in the free-for-all Best New Engine of the Year, Fiat’s 1.4 turbocharged Multi Air, as fitted in the Alfa Romeo Mito and Giulietta, ironically prevented Ferrari’s 4.5-litre V8 winning any accolades by knocking it off the top spot.
