- Audi Urbansphere concept to debut on April 19
- Joins the existing Skysphere and Grandsphere concepts
- Teaser image previews urban-focused design
Audi has announced its Urbansphere concept will be revealed later this month.
Set for debut on April 19 in an online event, following the postponement of the 2022 Beijing Motor Show due to COVID-19 concerns in China, the Urbansphere is the final iteration of the marque’s ‘sphere’ line-up – joining the Skysphere and Grandsphere concepts.
First teased in 2021, the Urbansphere sports a short front-end, long and steep windscreen and a lengthy flat roof to provide a “private space in urban environments”.
The most-recent teaser indicates the Urbansphere will feature a set of large suicide doors and two rows of seating, with ambient lighting and futuristic design elements also present inside.
Think of the Urbansphere as a follow-up to the AI:Me concept that debuted at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. At just 4.3m long, the AI:Me is more compact than the Urbansphere, but also features an urban-focused mono-box design.
Size-wise, expect the Urbansphere to slot in between the Q5 and Q7, its short front and rear overhangs demonstrating the advantages of EV technology, with a focus on maximising interior space.
As the third member of Audi’s ‘sphere’ concepts, the Urbansphere will round out the range of EVs, which preview the future of mobility and the brand.
Revealed at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2021, the Skysphere is a two-door electric cabriolet with an unusually large bonnet and a sleek profile. Meanwhile, the Grandsphere concept focuses on pure luxury, featuring a 5.35-metre long body and Level 4 autonomous capability.
