Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018 auction highlights

Barrett-Jackson has just wrapped up a massive four-day-long auction at Palm Beach, Florida, in which hundreds of cars found new owners.

Leading the charge for dollar values was a rare 2012 Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition, one of only 50 ‘Ring specials built.

Originally sold for around USD$445,000 (AUD$572K), the bright orange V10-powered beast picked up USD$770,000 (AUD$990K) at the auction.

For something that hits a bit closer to home, a 2005 Pontiac GTO that’s travelled 1885 miles (3033km) fetched USD$26,400 (AUD$33,946).

But a quartet of Dodges proved a big draw for fans of US muscle, with two Challenger Demons, a Dart Demon, and a Viper ACR all hitting the block.

The Dodges sold for USD$143,000 and $151,800 (AUD$183,876 and $195,192) with both described as being in showroom condition, with 6 and 11 miles respectively.

The third Demon is a little more old school, a customised 1972 Dodge Dart with a stonking 7.2-litre six-pack V8 in the snout. It sold for USD$38,500 (or AUD$49,505).

And the last in our Mopar picks is one of the last Vipers to ever be built, a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. With its enormous 8.4-litre V10 having only taken it a total of 4072 miles (6464km), it’s no surprise it sold for USD$134,200 (AUD$172,550).

Also of note among the many, many lots, was a 1990 Honda NSX, which sold for USD$44,000 (AUD$56,600), despite being slightly modified and repainted. An auto NSX was also present, though picked up only USD$33,000 (AUD$42,400).

Finally, a 1987 Porsche 911 930 Turbo picked up USD$126,500 (AUD$162,600), which seems to have been recently rebuilt with a 3.5-litre flat six, 4-speed manual, and plenty of aftermarket parts to update this German classic.
