Yeehah! As first broken by Wheels magazine three weeks ago, Ford Australia’s has today confirmed its iconic pony car - the Ford Mustang – is coming to Australia.

Seen above in our exclusive rendering, the all-new 2015 Mustang will replace the Falcon as Ford’s halo performance vehicle and will headline Ford’s ambitious plan to introduce 11 new ‘global vehicles’ in Australia by 2017.

Ford Australia president Bob Graziano said:" in 2017 we will completely refresh the entire line-up."

The announcement came at Ford’s ‘Go Further’ event in Sydney today, which also saw the brand tease the look of the next, and final, Ford Falcon.

Little of the new Falcon’s shape was revealed, but it’s understood the next model will include a new, muscular front end and new alloy-wheels.

Technical details are scant, but Ford's new family car is expected to feature better fuel economy and sharper acceleration courtesy of revised aerodynamics and a lighter ‘high-tech’ six-speed automatic gearbox.

Ford also used the event to showcase new and upcoming models including the new hot-hatch Fiesta ST, Ecosport baby SUV, Modeo and Transit.
