While the results apply to vehicles launched in Australia within the past 12 months, all testing was conducted by sister organisation Euro NCAP with a 2021 datestamp, under older 2020-22 criteria.

ANCAP or Euro NCAP have yet to publish vehicle results under more-stringent criteria introduced in 2023.

In addition, the Ford Mustang Mach-E had a five-star ANCAP rating for New Zealand variants, but this has now extended to vehicles due in Australia later this year – excluding the GT, which remains untested.

Meanwhile, additional testing was conducted by Euro NCAP for the all-electric Genesis vehicles “to confirm comparable safety performance and high voltage battery integrity,” with results found to be identical to the internal-combustion GV70 and G80.

“With these new results, there are now over 100 battery electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen models rated by ANCAP which hold a five-star ANCAP safety rating – providing plenty of choice to consumers across a range of vehicle brands, models and price-points,” said ANCAP chief executive officer, Carla Hoorweg.

Overall, the Ford Mustang Mach-E scored 92 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent for child occupation protection, 69 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 82 per cent for safety assist.

As with other larger SUVs and utility vehicles, ANCAP noted increased risk to occupants of oncoming vehicles in a crash, with a 3.45-point ‘vehicle-to-vehicle compatibility’ penalty applied.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 retains the standard GV70 scores at 89 per cent for adult occupant protection, 89 per cent for child occupation protection, 64 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 87 per cent for safety assist.

Likewise, the Electrified G80 remains unchanged, scoring 91 per cent for adult occupant protection, 86 per cent for child occupation protection, 77 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 80 per cent for safety assist – in line with petrol and diesel G80 variants.
