Hennessey mutates Jeep Trackhawk into a 754kW monster

The 2426kg SUV will sprint to 100km/h in under 3.0sec once the madmen at Hennessey have had their way

THE JEEP Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk has already pummelled the laws of physics into submission, pumping out numbers that can boggle the mind if you think about it for too long.

But now things are being taken a step further, thanks to the American madhouse, Hennessey, and the lunatics within who feed themselves on a diet of destroyed tyres and distilled horsepower.

The tuning house responsible for the ‘Exorcist Camaro’ has developed a HPE1000 supercharger upgrade for the Trackhawk, which boosts outputs from 527kW and 874Nm, to a staggering 754kW and 1313Nm.

The ‘regular’ Trackhawk will accelerate to 100km/h in a claimed 3.6sec, or 60mph (97km/h) in 3.5sec.

Hennessey claims with the HPE 1000 kit fitted (which sounds like the world’s fastest supervirus), the 0-60mph time is slashed to a staggering 2.8sec. The 0-100km/h time is likely to also be sub-3.0sec.

Remember, the Trackhawk still weighs in at 2426kg.

The quarter mile can apparently be crushed in 10.5sec, at 214km/h (133mph).

So, what does the HPE1000 kit include? Well, send your donor car to Hennessey and they will add a 4.5-litre supercharger to replace the stock unit, which sits atop the 6.2-litre V8. Boost is then wound up to 14psi.

Stainless steel long tube headers are fitted, along with upgraded fuel injectors, fuel pump, a high-flow air induction system, and a custom engine tune dialled in.

With the upgrades complete, peak power arrives at 6500rpm, with peak torque kicking in at 4200rpm.

All that, and it comes with a warranty – albeit limited to 19,000km.

If the HPE1000 sounds like too much of a handful, you can opt for the HPE850 kit, which makes a stout, though comparatively measly, 635kW and 1145Nm.

Hennessey has serious experience here, with the HPE1000 and HPE850 kits both available for the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat variants.
