Hennessey’s Camaro ZL1 Exorcist revealed

Hennessey says its new Exorcist Camaro ZL1 is “built to cast out the Demon”. Prepare for one of the greatest muscle car rivalries ever.

With a Chevrolet 6.2-litre supercharged LT4 V8 tuned to produce a whopping 745kW/1310Nm to pull it along, the Exorcist is sounding bad enough to strangle Dodge’s newest monster.

Just a bit better than the standard ZL1’s 485kW/881Nm.

The Exorcist’s name is no coincidence, nor is the music used in its reveal video. If it’s on the Highway to Hell, it’s got a few days to get there before the Demon comes out to play.

Upgrades over the ‘standard’ ZL1 include a larger, higher flowing 14psi supercharger and an upgraded intercooler system, ported factory cylinder heads, a camshaft upgrade, long-tube stainless steel headers, a high-flow air induction system, and custom engine management calibration.

Founder and president, John Hennessey says the Exorcist will deliver 0-100km/h times under 3 seconds, and run the quarter in less than 10.

“However, the Exorcist is not just a quarter-mile racer,” Hennessey adds. “It’s a well-rounded super-muscle car that is just as happy on a road course as it is on the dragstrip and street. Needless to say, this will leave the competition’s heads spinning.”

It wouldn’t be the first time an exorcist has seen a demon’s head spin around.

Available for both 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic-equipped ZL1s, the upgrade’s base cost sits at USD$55,000, so it’s not cheap.

But GM fans with cash to burn will likely be happy to drop the cash if it means showing up Dodge at the strip.
