The Holden Racing Team is paying tribute to one of Australia's greatest ever racing drivers with a retro livery for the upcoming Townsville round.
As part of HRT's 25th Anniversary celebrations, both Garth Tander and James Courtney's VF Commodores will wear a livery inspired by that of the 1997 VS Commodore, the car driven by Peter Brock in his last full year of V8 Supercars competition.
Even at 52 years of age, Brock remained a force to be reckoned with, taking his final round win at Barbagello Raceway and finishing sixth in the championship.
The distinctive livery is the work of Peter Hughes, who also designed the original livery. "HRT's 1997 livery is one of my all-time favourites," he says. "It was the first HRT Commodore I designed and is sentimental to me being Brock's final year.
The Townsville 400 takes place this weekend, July 10-12.
