Never has a car been more appropriately named than Koenigsegg's Agera XS.
Equally appropriately, it's heading to the land of excess as the first Koenigsegg to be homologated to be driven on US roads.
Koenigsegg pulled out of the US market for many years, however afters years of work to ensure its carbon-bodied twin-turbo weapons comply to the relevant crash and emissions standards Americans can now buy a Swedish car other than a Volvo.
The Agera XS is more or less the same as the 'regular' Agera underneath, which means a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 sending 865kW to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automated manual transmission.
With the car's kerb weight sitting at just 1372kg, it's guaranteed to be one of the fastest things on the road.
The XS features a bespoke aerodynamic setup inspired by the One:1, including the biggest rear wing ever fitted to a Koenigsegg at the request of the owner, because everything is bigger in the US.
Koenigsegg is displaying both the Agera XS and its hybrid Regera at The Quail Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week, one of the world's pre-eminent automotive events.
