Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 pricing and features: 600km+ range limo arrives

Twelve months later than initially promised, the luxurious Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 has joined its performance-oriented AMG 53 sibling from $219,900 before on-road costs.

Without the performance treatment, the twin-motor all-wheel drive EQS 450 boasts an extended driving range of 631km in combined WLTP testing – making it second only to the 2024 Polestar 2.

Part of the EQS’ secret is its super low 0.2 Cd (the lowest drag coefficient of any production car) as well as detuned motors. Compared to the $327K AMG model, its 265kW/800Nm outputs give it a two-second slower 0-100km/h sprint claim of 5.6 seconds.

With a 107.8kWh battery pack onboard and a maximum DC fast-charge rate of 200kW, the EQS 450 is able to race from 10-80 per cent charge in 28 minutes.

AC charging tops out at 22kW, so with a three-phase wallbox 0-100 per cent takes under six hours.

Underneath it gets a more comfort-oriented chassis with rear-axle steering, air springs and adaptive dampers hooked up to 21-inch alloy wheels. To keep up appearances, the Australia EQS 450 is still equipped with AMG Line exterior styling, including a sporty front bumper, grille, side skirts, rear apron and wheel design.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 and AMG EQS 53 have also had their five-star Euro NCAP rating converted to a five-star ANCAP rating. See the image below for the crash test results.
