California custom car specialist Cartel Customs has wasted no time in ripping the roof off the US Scion version of the just launched Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ twins.
The radical one-off Scion FR-S roadster is set to debut at this weekend’s CART Grand Prix of Long Beach, and although its 2.0-litre boxer engine’s output remains unchanged at 147kW/205Nm, the “race inspired” two seater features an ACT competition clutch, GReddy SP Elite exhaust, adjustable KW Clubsport coil-over shocks, upgraded Wilwood six-piston brakes up front and four-piston callipers at the rear.
Wheels are 18-inch Forge Line centre-lock alloys shod with hi-performance TOYO Proxes R888 rubber, and (aside from the top chop) the body features lightweight front guards and bonnet as well as more muscular, widened wheel arches.
