The Motorclassica car show, held annually in Melbourne, has been cancelled for 2023.
It was due to run in two weeks' time – from Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8, 2023 – in line with previous tradition for the classic car show, located at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building.
“We'd like to confirm that the 2023 edition of the event will not be taking place this year,” said a statement posted to social media.
While the show ran in 2022 – with manufacturer support including BMW – the editions due to be held in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Motorclassica organisers have not provided a reason for the cancellation of the 2023 show.
The event, which hosts the Australian International Concours d'Elegance, is billed as a “three-day celebration of classic motoring” with a number of show classes vying for the coveted ‘best in show’ award.
Motorclassica 2022 returned for the first time since 2019 with more cars than ever. Highlights included a broad Ferrari line-up celebrating 75 years of the marque, the Icons of Speed section featuring exotics such as Pagani, Bugatti and Koenigsegg, and sneak previews of the latest BMW M2, XM and i4 M50.
