New Zealand’s newest motorsport facility, Highland’s Motorsport Park, has kicked off with a massive open day, featuring classic racing cars and drivers, highlighting the country’s hi-octane heritage.
Located in Cromwell, 50km outside Queenstown on the South Island, the new facility offers three track layouts, with the full circuit running 4.8km.
Kiwi legends Jim Richards, Greg Murphy and Craig Baird were there on the day, with the latter blasting to a new lap record of 1:41.90 in a McLaren MP4 GT3 racer.
The facility also includes the Highlands National Motorsport Museum, a skid pan, go kart track and a first-class restaurant and cafe.
