With international travel restricted, the growing trend has been to holiday at home – as is evident from a surge in off-road vehicle and caravan sales over the past 12 months.
But what about those who want to go off-road with a touch of sophistication? We're endlessly being asked by Porsche owners: "When will I be able to go camping with a Taycan?" It seems a popular market (not really).
Thankfully, outdoor fashion label Db has provided a solution to the problem, releasing the Discoverberry Bundle which includes a Taycan Cross Turismo, a rooftop tent, sleeping bag, backpack and camping kit.
With a price tag of AU$395,000, it's hard to tell what the reason is for such a markup, as the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo retails for $176,600 while the high-riding wagon's range-topping Turbo variant is still only $279,000 before on-road costs.
Given the Strøm and sleeping bag are easily under $1000, we're looking at either a very expensive camper or wrap job costing more than most new cars on the market.
Db says the Taycan bundle is the "perfect companion for off-grid life", provided of course the destination is within reach on a charge – otherwise a small array of solar panels will be needed to keep things rolling.
While the camper top is a spacious 2385-litres, its shape greatly reduces the aesthetic appeal of the Taycan, as well as its driving range – some would argue almost as much as towing around a camper trailer.
