Australia is set to receive a new lineup of Range Rover Sport models, with engines starting at the 2.0-litre SD4 and topping off with the supercharged 5.0-litre SVR V8.
Also coming to Australia is Jaguar Land Rover’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the Range Rover Sport PHEV.
The 297kW/640Nm hybrid has two drive modes, parallel hybrid for a combination of petrol and electric, or EV mode which has a 51km electric-only range.
But the biggest draw in the new lineup is the most powerful, the Range Rover Sport SVR, which scores the same engine and power output (423kW/700Nm) as the Jaguar F-Type V8 SVR.
Jaguar Land Rover says this means the Range Rover Sport SVR will sprint to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Also, a more extensive employment of carbon fibre makes the SVR “more dramatic, faster and more agile than before.”
Jaguar Land Rover Australia has confirmed that the SVR will head to Australia, with a few other members of the range.
The 2018 Range Rover Sport range will start from $95,100 (plus on-roads) in SD4 S guise, but expect the bonkers SVR to top the $230K mark.
