Crashing a car is every motoring journalist's worst nightmare.
Unfortunately, the law of averages are against us; if you drive cars fast enough for long enough, something is eventually going to catch you out.
There aren't too many in the profession that have a clean record (though not many admit it), but all you can really hope is that when things go pear-shaped the consequences aren't too bad.
One thing you really don't want to do is crash a valuable prototype, like US journo Patrick George did when attending the first media drive of the new Chevrolet Camaro.
For those who are time-poor, fast forward to the 1:00 mark.
Track drives are always tricky. Following behind a pace car often forces you out of your natural rhythm and add in an unfamiliar circuit and have to talk to camera at the same time and it's little wonder accidents don't happen more often!
Thankfully, the greatest damage appears to the Patrick's pride, and he has the sympathy of all here at MOTOR. Don't let it get you down!
