If you ever thought the cars modified in the Middle East were extravagant, wait until you see what happens when they build their own.

This is the W Motors Fenyr SuperSport, a 596kW/980Nm rear-drive coupe that weighs about 1350kg.

That’s about as much as a Golf GTI. The weight, that is.

Unlike a Golf, it's astonishingly ostentatious, with exposed carbon fibre and enough body geometry to make the Civic Type R look incredibly restrained.

Inside, the story is much the same.

W Motors employed the experts at RUF when it came to the powertrain, so it’s not all just for show.

The twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat six is mid-rear mounted, and powers only the rear wheels.

The claimed sprint to 100km/h is just 2.7 seconds, a tenth quicker than a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, and its top speed is said to be 395km/h.

Oh, and it comes in both left and right-hand drive. But only 25 are planned, so don’t hold your breath if you’re expecting to see one Down Under. You’d have a better chance of seeing one in Dubai, where W Motors is based.

And the exclusivity doesn’t end there. W Motors says it caters each car to its buyer.

“Each customer will sit down with an appointed customization consultant to guide them through the extensive bespoke program that allows each Fenyr to be virtually unique.

“This experience will help with the creation of custom colour schemes, embroidery patterns, crest/flag positioning, usage of exotic leathers or even more if decided to commission a limited edition version.”

And if you’re wondering about the name, it comes from the beast ‘Fenrir’ in Norse mythology. Fenrir is Loki’s son (mythology can get a bit like that), and is said to have killed Odin.

W Motors quotes adapted text from the 1200s as part of its inspiration for the name.

“The Earth will shake violently, trees will be uprooted, mountains will fall, and all binds will snap - Fenyr will be free.”

However, the W Motors Fenyr will certainly not be free. In fact, its price if one was to make it to Australia would certainly be north of $2 million. Likely even $3 million.
