Steve L writes: I’ve been really impressed with the way the Peugeot 508 GT drives, but then realised that I could get a Sonata N Line for much the same money. While the Peugeot is a lot more elegant, I can’t seem to overlook the fact that the Hyundai has so much more grunt. Where should I put my money?
We’re also big fans of the super-agile Peugeot 508 but it’s a fact that you’d be handing over $57k for a car with just 165kW.
On a bang for buck basis, that’s not exactly stellar. The Hyundai does seem to offer a lot more in terms of performance and tech for a lot less, but the overall execution feels a bit lumpen next to the svelte and sophisticated Frenchie.
After all, once you experience Peugeot’s ‘cat’s paw’ massage function you’re never going back.
I’d venture that you can do even better than both of these cars by looking beyond the Sonata N Line at another Hyundai – the i30 Sedan N. It’s a similar size to the Peugeot and is the best sports sedan in its class. Check out Alex Affat’s review in this issue and then get back to us if you still want that Sonata. - AE
