Hyundai has recalled 9952 examples of the 2018-2020 Kona and Veloster due to the risk of an engine fault.
The issue relates to the piston rings assembled within the engine, which may be defective. This could result in faults to the component and/or the cylinder bore, affecting engine performance.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, a damaged engine may result in the vehicle stalling and/or leaking engine oil.

When parts become available, Hyundai Australia will contact owners to organise a repair with their dealership. Alternatively, the customers involved can contact Hyundai on 1800 186 306 or their preferred dealer – which can be found here.
