About Mini
Mini was originally introduced as a model in 1959, founded by the British Motor Corporation, before becoming a marque 10 years later.
Some of its iconic vehicles have included the Morris Mini-Minor and the Austin Seven, the Countryman, Moke, 1275GT and Clubman.
It has since changed hands several times until it was acquired by BMW in 1994. The original Mini continued in production until 2000 before an entirely new model was launched by BMW in 2001 to great success.
The Mini brand has since diversified with larger and different models, not always with success.
In Australia today, the Mini brand’s line-up comprises the three- and five- door hatches, Clubman wagon, Countryman SUV, and Convertible – as well as the Mini Electric EV and performance-focused Mini John Cooper Works.
