- 2017-2020 Tesla Model 3 recalled due to rear-view camera wiring fault
- The issue affects 5143 electric sedans
- Tesla will notify affected owners via its mobile app, once parts become available
Tesla has issued a recall for 5143 examples of its 2017-2020 Model 3 electric sedan over concerns surrounding the rear-view camera.
According to the recall notice issued by the Department of Infrastructure, the routing of the cable for the reverse camera system surrounding the boot lid could become damaged with routine opening of the luggage area.
Tesla says this will cause the rear-view camera image to not appear on the infotainment system.
This could result in an accident whilst reversing, with the brand warning affected drivers of the need for additional checks of their surroundings until the rectification work is completed.
Once parts become available, the marque will ask owners to book a service appointment via the Tesla mobile app.
The company can be contacted directly by visiting a service centre, found here.
A VIN list for the affected vehicles can be found here.
