Hyundai has issued a recall notice concerning 15,080 Hyundai Venue small SUVs built between July 2019 and June 2022.
The manufacturing issue affects the seatbelt pretensioner, which has the propensity to fracture in the event of an accident.
The defective item could propel metal fragments at high speed in a crash causing serious injury to occupants, according to the Department of Infrastructure’s recall notice.
What should I do?
Hyundai will contact owners of affected vehicles and request they make an appointment with a service centre to rectify the issue free of charge.
