- Bluelink connected-car technology added to Elite; but no facelift for Australia
- Price rises between $160 and $960; wireless phone charger added
The updated 2023 Hyundai Venue has arrived in Australia – but the recent facelift applied to Indian-built vehicles won't come to our Korean-sourced version.
Instead, revisions for model-year 2023 are focused on the Venue's technology suite, with the addition of Hyundai's Bluelink remote connectivity app for the range-topping Elite.
It is the second vehicle in the brand's local range to gain the connected-car technology, joining the facelifted Palisade launched in mid-2022.
The system features automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call, a valet mode, built-in voice control, connected satellite navigation, and the ability to lock/unlock or start the engine from the smartphone application.
In addition, a larger 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, a wireless phone charger and a USB-C port have been added across the Venue range, while the Elite gains two rear USB-C ports and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
It is accompanied by price rises of between $160 and $960, the deletion of the manual Active variant, a rear occupant alert system and leading vehicle departure alert.
The Hyundai Venue competes in the light SUV segment in Australia, with rivals including the Mazda CX-3, Kia Stonic, Toyota Yaris Cross and Volkswagen T-Cross.

Engine, drivetrain, and fuel economy
Under the bonnet, the Hyundai Venue includes a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 90kW and 151Nm, exclusively sending power to the front wheels only.
A six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission is available on the entry-level grade, while the latter gearbox is standard on the Active and Elite.

---|---|---|
1.6-litre manual | 7.0L | 160g/km |
1.6-litre automatic | 7.2L | 165g/km |
In our long-term test, the 2020 Venue achieved an overall average fuel consumption figure of 9.2L/100km.
Safety
The Hyundai Venue is covered by a four-star ANCAP safety rating, based on testing conducted in 2019.
The crash-testing body said this result was caused by the autonomous emergency braking system in the Venue, which failed to adequately prevent a rear-end collision during testing. It has not conducted further testing since the initial result was announced.
Six airbags (dual frontal, side chest and side curtain) feature across the Venue range.
Each variant includes the following active safety equipment as standard:

Leading vehicle departure alert (new) | Lane-keep assist |
Rear occupant alert (new) | Automatic high beam |
Autonomous emergency braking (vehicle and pedestrian) | Driver attention alert. |
Blind-spot alert and rear-cross traffic alert are limited to the flagship Elite variant.
Dimensions
The Hyundai Venue has a wheelbase of 2520 millimetres, and is 4040mm long, 1770mm wide and 1592mm tall.
2023 Hyundai Venue boot space
The Hyundai Venue has a 355-litre boot.
Warranty and servicing
As per the wider Hyundai range, the Venue is covered by the brand's five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
It has a complimentary 12-month roadside assistance program. This coverage extends for up to 10 years if the vehicle is exclusively serviced by the manufacturer.
Hyundai recommends servicing every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first.
Lifetime capped-price servicing is offered across the Venue range, but this pricing will differ depending on the service interval.
