BYD‘s mobile device app has launched in Australia.
It supports vehicle connectivity with the Atto 3 electric SUV, allowing owners to remotely check their vehicle and control various functions remotely.
The BYD app is free on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, with access rolled out to customers in Australia from March 27, 2023.

BYD Automotive notes in an email to owners that when the app unlocks the doors, “the vehicle can be started within four minutes”.
The mobile app from BYD follows technology made popular by Tesla, and other brands including Kia with its Kia Connect app, Hyundai with Bluelink, and Ford with FordPass Connect.
BYD currently only offers the Atto 3 electric SUV in Australia, but its affordable price and broadly admirable talent have seen it in hot demand – achieving the third top slot in EV sales in 2022.

The BYD Atto 3, priced from $48,011 to $51,011 before on-road costs, faces competition from the GWM Ora hatchback (known as Good Cat in other markets) and MG ZS EV in the battle for Australia’s cheapest electric vehicle.
It will soon be joined by the smaller Dolphin hatchback and the Seal sedan – a rival to the Tesla Model 3 – in the second half of 2023.
Both of these vehicles have been spied testing in Australia in recent months.
