DUE to a number of reasons, a fourbie might remain parked in the garage when the tracks are calling – reparations, dicey weather, family duties, or perhaps you’ve eaten some uncooked chook. But that doesn’t mean you can’t scratch the off-roading itch… from the couch.
Spintires: MudRunner is a true-to-life off-roading simulation developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive.
Players must pilot one of 19 all-terrain vehicles – 4x4s, trucks and sturdy logistic vehicles – through a series of challenges in harsh environments and on hostile Siberian roads.
“Spintires: MudRunner puts you in the driver’s seat of powerful off-road vehicles and challenges you to face extreme sandbox (open-world) environments, with only a map, a compass and your driving talents to survive,” the press statement reads.
Thanks to an advanced physics engine, the game’s uber-realistic features include fuel simulation, a differential transmission system, soft-tyre simulation, as well as realistic interactions between vegetation, mud, water and your vehicle.
The first edition of Spintires, released back in 2014, was an indie classic due to its immersive and accurate physics models, and it went on to capture more than one million players on PC.
The ultimate edition now offers fresh content and unique experiences. Solo player or four-player co-op is available.
Spintires: MudRunner, available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, is in stores now. Stay tuned to 4X4 Australia for a review!
